Prayers of the Church - Charismatic Prayer Group Psalms

The ten psalms below represent a collection of psalms written by members of the St. Agnes Charismatic Prayer Group. They came about as a result of a study group given by the Diocesan Catholic Charismatic Renewal Office. They have been numbered 151 to 160 and are not to be confused with the Book of Psalms written several centuries ago.

Psalm 151

Praise and Glory to you, O Lord
Heal us from our afflictions,
Hear the cry of the sick and hungry,
Have mercy on these people & heal them.
You have healed the sick & feed the hungry,
Oh Lord we give Honor & Praise to you
For your kindness & mercy.

Psalm 152

O, Lord, how long must people from all nations suffer, because of
bigotry, prejudice, indifference, and greed.
Everyday we see the weak and the poor humiliated,
and the nations are at war.
We know you hear the cry of the poor,
and you listen to our prayers.
Come to our aid O, Lord less
we grow weary and faint of heart.
Our prayers and sacrifices rise up to you,
With each rising and setting of the sun.
We trust in you O, Lord,
that the wicked will receive retribution
and the virtuous their reward.
Praise to you Lord for your promises
and faithfulness.
We will always give you Praise
and Thanksgiving all the days of our life.

Psalm 153

O, Lord, You are my protector.
Help me to accept my limitations,
I come to you each day
to give you Praise and Thanksgiving.
I know in my heart,
that you are always there to guide me.

Psalm 154

Lord, I cry out to you for peace.
You have put us here to attain salvation,
but we turn our back on you.
Brother is against brother, houses are divided, and the perils of evil
are all around us.
We need you Lord, to bring Harmony where there is discord;
Love where there is hate; and Unity where there is division.
I praise you for always being there for us.
Help us to recognize our love for you,
and let us Praise you forever.

Psalm 155

Lord God, come to my aid.
You said if we turn to you, you will heal us.
Set me free Lord from my affliction.
You have come to my aid in past troubles,
O, Lord, I trust in your mercy and love.
Only you are my strength,
I will praise you all the days of my life.

Psalm 156

O God, this is my Psalm of Thanksgiving
For the death of my sister,
who suffered because of cancer.
I want you to know
when I was in so much distress,
I trusted you and loved you.
I prayed to you, Jesus
and you answered my Prayers.
You understand me, and I turn to you always in Prayer and Praise.

Psalm 157

O God, we were surrounded by strong walls of turmoil,
with many sharp spears and arrows,
Entrapping our family in distress,
But you heard our cries for help.
Mighty, Faithful, Loving and Caring God.
We trusted in your deep Compassion, and
you answered our pleas of family prayer and praise.
You, O Mighty God, removed all obstacles
And set us free.
We praise your mercy forever.

Psalm 158

Jesus, My Lord and My Brother.
How can I ever forget your love and compassion,
Again and again you have heard my cry
and my desperation,
when I have no one to turn to, you are there.
You understand and lift me up;
you love me into wholeness.
Your peace floods my soul and all is joy.
Praise to you my Savior and my God.

Psalm 159

I praise you O God and thank you,
You are everything to me,
You answer my prayers and gave me life.
Hear me O Lord, in my time of need.
You are omnipotent,
please answer my prayer and set my Spirit free.
Thank you O God and loving Father,
I will give you Praise and Honor
all the days of my life.

Psalm 160

Oh, Jesus Healer of the ill and weak,
How long must my mother lie
wasting away on her bed of pain?
Why must she suffer in her body and mind?
All her life long she has always
turned to you in faith.
I beg you to answer her prayers
Console her spirit with your
anointing touch of peace.
You have been her strength in all her trials.
I know You will protect her and release her from her fears.
Heal her hurts and give her the gift of forgiveness.
I trust in Your mercy and Your love.
I thank You, Jesus, for her life.
I thank you for all You have done for her.
I will praise You for Your kindness towards her.
I will witness to all Your goodness.
