On Sunday, May 29th, 2005 the Feast of the Body and Blood of
Christ, also known as
Corpus Christi
Sunday, a traditional
Corpus Christi
procession was held after the 9:30 Mass. Coming out the front entrance of
St. Agnes Cathedral and down
Quealy Place
the procession made its way to the new
Parish
Activity
Center
.
The
procession was led by a cross bearer, altar servers, children of our
recent First Communion class, clergy and parish families. The Holy
Eucharist was transported in a monstrance carried by Msgr. Robert Brennan
and accompanied by incense bearers.
The
procession was a public proclamation and affirmation of the parish’s
devotion to the Holy Eucharist and was first suggested in October 2004 by
Pope John Paul II in his declaration of the “Year of the Eucharist”
that we celebrate our devotion by taking God as our companion in our
streets and homes as an expression of our grateful love.
The
Blessed Sacrament was available for visiting and adoration until after
1:30 Mass when Benediction of
the Blessed Sacrament concluded the celebration.
