Michael Wustrow came to
St. Agnes in 1993 and currently serves as Co-Director of Music, where he
is an organist and choir director for the parish as well as a musician
for the many diocesan services held at the Cathedral. The active
music ministry program at the Cathedral consists of choirs representing
various musical style an ethnic backgrounds; part of Michael's
responsibilities include conducting two 70 voice girls choirs, as well
as a 50 voice choir for boys and girls in grades 1-2. The Senior
Girls Choir, an auditioned group of girls in grades 6-8, has performed
in New York City at St. Thomas Church, Fifth Ave. and St. Ignatius
Church on Park Ave. Recently the choir combined with the renowned
Girl's Choir of Harlem to present a varied program that included
Pergolesi's Stabet Mater as well as several spirituals.
Throughout the United States,
Michael has presented workshops on the subject of Children's Choirs for
the American Guild of Organists, Choristers Guild, the National
Association of Pastoral Musicians, and the Royal School of Sacred
Music. He recently finished a six year term serving on the
Choristers Guild National Board of Directors. He has presented
workshops and lead festivals, in Omaha, Rochester, Orlando, Hartford and
Patterson.
As an organ recitalist he has
presented recitals at St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Cathedral of St. John
the Divine, and St. Thomas Church Fifth Ave. (New York City), St. Mary's
Cathedral in San Francisco, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the
Immaculate Conception in Washington D. C. and Columbia University.
He is a graduate of Pennsylvania
State University, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Music
Education, and also the Yale University School of Music/Institute of
Sacred Music, where he earned a Masters Degree in Organ Performance.
Michael is a member of the Liturgy
Commission for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, and a Member of the
Board of Directors for the Director of Music Ministry Division of NPM.
He Recently completed a six year term on the National Board of Directors
for Choristers Guild. |
