Monsignor Robert Guglielmone, Rector

Msgr. Robert Guglielmone was named Cathedral Rector in 2007.  Since 2003, Msgr. Guglielmone  served as diocesan director of clergy personnel, residing at Our Holy Redeemer Church, Freeport. He was pastor of St. Francis de Chantal Church, Wantagh from 1993 to 2003.  Prior to that assignment, he was director of pastoral formation and dean of seminarians at Immaculate Conception Seminary from 1986 until 1993

Prior to his ordination, Fr. Bob taught at Patchogue –Medford High School. His first assignment after ordination in 1978 was as associate pastor at St. Martin of Tours Church in Amityville.  His pastoral year was at St. James Church, Setauket. He received papal honors as the title of "monsignor" in 1996.

Msgr. Guglielmone has been active in Boy Scouting since his seminary days. He has been national Scouting chaplain and chaplain for the International Catholic Conference on Scouting and the Holy See's World Ecclesiastical Assistant for Scouting.

On January 24, 2009, His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Msgr. Guglielmone Bishop of the Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina.  His ordination is scheduled for March 25.
