MISSION
The Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) is the process by which un-baptized adults and
non-Catholic Christians are welcomed into membership in the Catholic Church.
The process gently and gradually acquaints the inquirer with the Catholic
Church and nurtures that person's journey of conversion.
At Sunday meetings, members reflect on the Scriptures and discover what
meaning Jesus' message has for them in their lives.
We then continue the formation process with prayer and instruction.
COMING
TOGETHER
For
Catechists and Facilitators, teaching experience would be helpful. Adult catechetical courses are suggested.
Sponsors
will be trained by the R.C.I.A. Team.
R.C.I.A.
is an ongoing process. There is no set time for a person to begin. The process generally takes about one year and ends at Pentecost.
A sponsor might be expected to serve more than one year depending upon
length of time a catechumen or candidate might require. Other ministries would last about one year.
Since inquirers come to us at any time, we would like to establish a
group of sponsors who would be trained.

Do
you have a non-Catholic Friend or relative who is searching for a deeper meaning
to life? If you think the Catholic Church might be able to provide that
meaning? If you have answered "YES" to these questions, why not
introduce your friend or relative to the R.C.I.A. group at St. Agnes?
