Ministries and Outreach - Prayer

Altar-Rosary Society - This Society's main purpose is to honor Mary through increased devotion to the rosary and to enrich the lives of our members through meetings and other activities. Some of the activities and events of the Society are a Day of Recollection, religious and secular programs at the monthly meetings, participation in Mary's Day in May, a St. Patrick's Luncheon and Fashion Show. Members also have the opportunity to serve the larger community through caring for some of the altar linens, through visitation at a nursing home and by reciting the Rosary after the 9 a.m. Mass weekdays. The Rosary-Altar Society is open to all women 18 years of age and older. Meetings are held on the third Monday of most months at one o'clock in the Rectory Meeting Room.

First Saturday Devotion - This special devotion to Our Lady is held the first Saturday of each Month.  MORE...

Miraculous Medal Novena -
The perpetual novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is conducted after the 9:00 AM Mass each Monday and after the 7:30 PM Mass each Monday.

Nocturnal Adoration Society - The purpose of this Society is to provide witness to the presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist by gathering before the Blessed Sacrament in exposition to offer prayers of adoration, petition, thanksgiving and reparation. Adoration is scheduled every first Friday in three groups from 9 p.m. to midnight. The Society participates in the annual diocesan Nocturnal Adoration rally every November as well as, within the parish, an annual Mass for the deceased members followed by a Communion Breakfast.

Prayer Ministry - Prayer, "...Liberates something in us, a power we did not know we had, a hope, a capacity for life, a resilience, an ability to bounce back when we thought we were completely defeated, a capacity to grow and change, a power of creative transformation." (Thomas Merton)  The Prayer Ministries of our parish continue to intercede in prayer for God's blessings for our church, our priests, religious, parish staff, all families, parents, youth, the sick, aged or anyone in need of spiritual strength.  If you have a specific intention you would like to share confidentially with the Prayer Ministers or you would like to join this ministry, please visit the Shrine of the American Saints in the Cathedral and place your requests in the prayer box.

St. Agnes Prayer Groups - Consisting of three different groups which meet weekly either in the morning or evening, the goal of this group is simply to help participants to become more Christ-like and members of a real community of life and love. The groups gather for at least one hour and focus on the Lord alone, praising the Lord, singing songs and thanking God for all His graces. During the year special days of prayer are held along with Life in the Spirit Seminars and days of intercessory prayer for priests.

Please contact the Church Office at (516) 766-0205, unless noted, if you are interested in learning more about these ministries and their activities.
